Mid-century Teak Veneer Credenza
A mid-century teak veneer credenza offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
This vintage teak credenza does not have a maker’s mark, so we don’t know who made it. It does have a faint label attached to the back that tells us the name of the furniture store in Frankfurt, Germany where it was purchased. This piece was almost certainly made by one of the many skilled furniture makers in Denmark in the 1960s.
The teak of this piece has very nice grain and striation. This piece provides a lot of storage. It has 5 drawers on the left side and a large storage area with two adjustable shelves on the right side that is covered by sliding doors. Stretcher bars underneath with tapered legs complete the look.
This is a large piece. It measures 78 ¾ inches wide by 19 ½ deep and 33 ½ high. It would work perfectly as its originally intended purpose, as a dining room credenza. With its large size and unfinished back it could also work as an entertainment stand.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The top is beautiful and has no water rings or sun shadows. There is some age appropriate wear here and there. There is a small chip to the veneer on the bottom, back right corner that is difficult to see. See image 10. The top three drawers had green felt lightly glued to the drawer. It has been detached and laid in the drawer. The large majority of the residue has been removed. See image 7.
