Mid-Century Teak China Cabinet by Lyby of Denmark
A mid-century teak china hutch by Lyby Møbler of Denmark from Snowdrift Antiques.
This teak china cabinet was produced in the 1950s-1960s by Lyby Møbler of Lyby, Denmark. It is marked underneath. This is a two piece unit with spacious storage below and teak framed glass doors up top with adjustable shelves.
The base cabinet has two large teak panel sliding doors with beautifully sculpted handles. The left side has two adjustable shelves. On the right is a green felt lined silver drawer and an adjustable shelf underneath. Since they are symmetrical, you could even move the shelf on the right to the left side. The legs are short and slightly tapered.
Up top is a large display/storage area. Two teak framed glass panels with the same sculpted handles slide easily on rails. Each side has 3 adjustable shelves, which again, can be moved from side to side. The back of both pieces of this cabinet are finished with beautifully grained teak so it can sit attractively anywhere in a room.
This piece measures 54 inches x 18 x 72 ½ tall. Being a two piece unit, it is fairly easy to move.
This cabinet is in excellent vintage condition. It is structurally solid and I find no repairs. The teak is beautiful in grain and color and has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness. It has less than normal wear for its age.
