Mid-century Dining Room Table and Chairs
A vintage dining room table with one leaf and six chairs offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
This mid-century styled set has some numbers on it, but no name, so we don’t know for sure who made it. It is made from beautifully grained walnut, definitely in the United States and almost certainly in the 1960s.
The dining room table has tapered legs and a slight convex curve on each edge, in what is typically called “boat shape”. It has one leaf. There are 5 high back side chairs and one captain’s chair with arms. All of the chairs have a woven cane back.
The table measures 60” long by 40” in the middle by 29 ½“ high. The single leaf can add 10 inches to a total length of 70 inches.
This set is in excellent vintage condition. The table surface is remarkable in its lack of water rings, hot spots or scratches. It has been well taken care of over its 60+ years. The chairs are in excellent vintage condition as well. I find no signs of wood repair or stress. The cane had only a very minor (1 or 2 overlap) break on a couple of chairs that have been repaired and are very difficult to find. They have new high density cushions and have been professionally re-covered with great attention to detail, in new fabric by Knoll. Info on the fabric and a small swatch is attached underneath the captain’s chair.
This is a beautiful mid-century dining room set ready for a new home.
