Mid-century Chrome Plated Canister Set
A vintage set of integrated chrome canisters by Speco, Inc., offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
Speco Inc. was incorporated in 1946 in Schiller Park, Illinois. This was decades after they namelessly produced high quality steel blades and attachments for the Chicago meat processing companies. The grandson of the founder recognized that there was a large market for what they could produce, beyond meat processing implements. Their “Krestline” line of products became all the rage of modern 1950s housewives looking to add some bling to their kitchens. Speco is still a family run business today.
This is an integrated set of 4 chrome plated canisters in a single unit. They are marked, Coffee, Flour, Sugar and Tea. Each is opened by pulling down on the knob. They can be removed for easy cleaning. The Coffee canister has a metal lid. This set is 1950s kitchenware at its best. On the back, there are two small holes if you decide to mount the unit.
The unit measures 18 ½ inches wide by 7 deep and 9 ¾ high.
This set is in excellent vintage condition. It has some age appropriate wear to the chrome from innumerable cleanings but no scratches through the chrome. On your left hand end you may be able to see a very small dark spot in image 4 and on the other end, the slightest dent in image 5. The chrome is in excellent condition. It is shiny and without pitting or rust.
