Bedroom High Boy Chest by Kent-Coffey

$0.00Price

A mid-century 5 drawer highboy chest by Kent Coffey offered by Snowdrift Antiques.

The Kent-Coffey Manufacturing Company was started in 1907 by Harold Coffey in Lenoir, North Carolina. Harold was a major influence in the North Carolina furniture industry during the early-twentieth century. They produced quality, durable furniture for a fair price.  Today, Kent-Coffey designs are some of the most sought after because of their vintage, eye-catching designs and durability.

This mid-century styled high boy chest by Kent Coffey is from their line known as “The Eloquence”. It is made of walnut and stained in the color they called “Continental Walnut”. It has five drawers, two up top and three below. The three below have their original vintage brass handles.  The two up top open by the wooden grips on the drawer. The upper drawer bears the Kent-Coffey logo and “The Eloquence” mark.  It has tapered legs and stretch bars underneath. It has beautifully sculpted details, sturdy and built to last.  It is from the 1960s.

This chest measures 41 inches wide by 20 ½ deep on the lower section and stands 44 ¾ inches high.

It is in excellent vintage condition.  The top has been refinished, something we don’t typically do, but it had a lot of water rings and marks and this piece was just too pretty to not give the top a makeover.  The grain is gorgeous and resplendent in its second life.  The rest of the piece was in excellent vintage condition. There is some patina on the upper drawer pulls from wearing of the stain over the decades.  That was left as is, as it is normal, honest wear and attests to the vintage age of this piece.

This is a beautiful 5 drawer bedroom chest from a renowned maker that will make a statement in any mid-century bedroom.
